We are on our way to China to pick up our daughter. We have started a new blog at Word Press. Here is the link to follow our trip. We will update as soon as we get to Hong Kong!

Referrals began arriving in Europe and the United States today. We are still waiting to receive "The Call" soon. Sometimes there can be delays but we should hear something within the next 24 hours. Many friends and waiting buddies have received their calls. This is so exciting. We can't wait to get more information and to see her face for the first time.

The only "news" we have is that the rumors for the next batch of referrals may begin on August 9th. Usually this means that they have begun the final matching of "paper ready" babies to the parents' files in China. The actual referrals are generally mailed from China to the adoption agencies about a week later. It is a very exiting time. We have followed this process every month for four years and it is always such a blessing to see these "forever families" united.
Our 18th wedding anniversary is on August 8th so we hope to receive a very special "gift" this year.

We're Next!
There has been a major surprise in the adoption referral process from China. They referred 14 days (April 27 - May 10, 2006) of LIDs this month. Our LID (log in date) is May 11, 2006. The translation of this is that when referrals are processed next month, we will receive ours for sure. Sometime around the 2nd-3rd week in August we will receive a package from our adoption agency in California with a picture of our daughter. It is so exciting to realize this will be hapening very soon.

Final USCIS Approval!
We received our final approval from the US Citizenship and Immigration Services to adopt a daughter from China in the mail on July 12. It is called the I-797. This is the final hoop we should have to jump through to be approved to adopt (again). As you may know, the wait has caused our paperwork to expire and we had to begin all over again. There were a couple of gliches (additional information needed and an update to our home study) while we were waiting for this final approval, but it only took 45 days instead of the two months we thought it would take. Wow...after four years of waiting, this wait was a piece of cake. We would not have made it through this process without all the prayers and encouragement from those of you who are still waiting and hoping with us. Thank you. And a very special thank you to those of you dear friends who had to write and re-write letters of recommendation for us as potential parents.

USCIS Update
We just found out our I800-A form was received at the USCIS office in Dallas, Texas yesterday. A copy of our completed home study from Maine was attached. At this point, the USCIS has to approve the documentation and may have a few questions that need to be clarified. Also, they will send out a request for our latest fingerprints...(in case they have changed for the 4th time since 2006!) We have heard this portion of the process may take up to two months to complete.
